On April 29 2011, just 50 days away, London will be hosting a truly historic event, the Royal Wedding of HRH Prince William and Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey.
As always, London attractions, hotels, restaurants and retailers across the city have pulled out all the stops to provide visitors with royally-themed special promotions and packages designed to give everyone the opportunity to celebrate and commemorate the Royal Wedding period.
London has always prided itself on its Royal heritage, from Buckingham Palace and the Royal Parks to the Tower of London and Hampton Court, but there are plenty of other attractions across the capital that will be celebrating the Royal Wedding in a number of ways. For example, the National Gallery will be hosting several Royally-themed talks, workshops and tours to mark the special day. Some visitors can even enjoy a complimentary day out at ZSL London Zoo over the Royal Wedding weekend if they share the same name as William or Kate! A Royal day out in the capital wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Novello Theatre to enjoy a performance of Betty Blue Eyes, a new London musical based on austerity Britain and the Royal Wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Princess Phillip.
Exploring Royal London is thirsty work, so for those visitors who are partial to a cocktail, Park Plaza London hotels have created a special Royal Wedding cocktail menu featuring something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue! Alternatively, those partial to an afternoon tea can enjoy a vast selection of novelty afternoon tea menus with a Royal theme including Sapphire Afternoon Tea at London Hilton Park Lane, A Taste of Royal-Tea at The Cavendish London Hotel and Afternoon Tea with a Royal Twist onboard Bateaux London.
Visitors looking for accommodation in London during the wedding weekend can choose from wide range of special packages in honour of the big day, such as Swissôtel The Howard's Pretty Little Princess at the Swiss Castle package, whereby aspiring princesses between the age of 3 and 8 will be treated like royalty with delicious treats, goodies, princess style attire and a trip on a horse-drawn carriage.
Elsewhere at the Royal Garden Hotel, guests will receive an English breakfast, complimentary use of the Soma Spa sauna and steam room facilities and a pair of entry tickets to the neighbouring Kensington Palace as part of the Right Royal Affair promotion.
Amongst this fantastic selection of regal offerings is the chance to win your very own London-style street party, featuring a buffet, entertainment and much more as part of Visit London's multinational competition (running 1-31 March). Also, there are still prizes to be won for UK residents on http://www.visitlondon.com by visiting our 'competition cake' for a chance to win a different prize every day until the end of April.
