Restaurants go for Gold as 2012 Michelin Stars are announced

London’s restaurant scene is growing from strength to strength as the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2012  reveals the capital now has a staggering 55 Michelin starred restaurants.

The capital has seen the number of restaurants awarded stars continue to grow year on year and now has two restaurants with three stars, seven restaurants with two stars and an amazing 46 restaurants with one star.

This year, four new restaurants have joined the prestigious list of Michelin starred eateries including the capital’s hottest new restuarants; Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Pollen Street Social by chef Jason Atherton, with Hakkasan in Mayfair and Scandinavian inspired North Road in Clerkenwell completing the four.

Both Gordon Ramsey and Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester retained their coverted three stars.

Visitors to the capital looking for good value for money will not be short of choice as 45 restaurants (13 new additions) received Bib Gourmond status which is awarded to restaurants offering good value for money at a moderate price.

Commenting on the 2012 Michelin Stars, London & Partners CEO Gordon Innes commented,

“The new Michelin star ratings prove that London’s food scene is one of the best of the world. With more stars than ever before, the capital can be proud of its culinary offering, especially as the spotlight shines on the city as the host of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
